The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) app is critical to the website success, influencing its visibility and ranking on search engines such as Google and Bing.

Accessing the SEO Section

To access the section, click the SEO icon in the left panel.

The SEO section optimizes webpage visibility on search engines. The categories are the following:

  • Main Pages
  • System Pages
  • Redirections

In the Main Pages category, you can:

  • Switch the language to enable making changes for each existing language on your website.
  • Search for pages.
  • Sort the pages by relevant statuses.

Tip: To optimize a page, click the Dotted Menu on the page row and choose Settings. You can also choose the Preview option to see the content of the page on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices before entering the SEO-related information.

Customizing the Page Settings

The Page Settings section handles all the SEO settings of the webpage.

To thoroughly optimize your pages, the following options are available:

  • Search Results Preview - showcases how your webpage is displayed when being searched.
  • Title - tells visitors and search engines the name of a webpage. The Title should be in the optimal length: no longer than 56 characters to comply with Google's criteria.
  • Meta Description - tells visitors and search engines the summary of the webpage content. Meta description has a length limitation, and it should not be longer than 160 characters to be fully displayed.
  • Social Preview - showcases how your webpage is displayed when being posted on social media.
    • Replace Image - hovering over the image allows you to replace it with another one available in Media.
    • Delete Image - hovering over the image shows the Bin icon to remove the image completely from the webpage.
  • URL - indicates the alias of the webpage that is crawled.
  • Include in Sitemap - involves the URLs of your pages in your XML sitemap. If this setting is off, the search engines cannot share the information mentioned above with potential website visitors.
  • Robots Tag - informs search engines which page to crawl.
    • Index - conducts a search engine to index a page.
    • Noindex - conducts a search engine not to index a page.
    • Follow - conducts a crawler to follow all the links and pass equity to the linked pages even if the page is not indexed.
    • Nofollow - conducts a crawler not to follow any links on a page or pass along any link equity.

Setting Up Redirections

The Redirections subsection allows you to make a web page available under multiple URL addresses. Redirects are used to forward visitors or search engines from an old URL to a new one.

To add a redirection:

  1. Click the New Redirection button.
  2. Enter the Old URL.
  3. Enter the New URL that visitors will land on.
  4. Choose the type:
  • 301 Permanent redirect is used to permanently establish the redirection from a deleted or moved page. This type informs search engine robots that the page should no longer be indexed.
  • 302 Found redirect is used to make temporary redirects if you want to reuse the old URL in the future, but currently, visitors get navigated to an alternative page.
  • 307 Temporary redirect is used to indicate that the requested resource has been temporarily moved to a different location.

5. Enable the Publish toggle to make the redirection in action.

6. After filling in all the necessary configurations, click Save or Cancel to discard the changes.

Managing Redirections

Once you modify the URL of products, categories, events, and collection items in your project Dashboard, the updated URL is generated in Redirections. Here you can manage the updated URL. To do so:

  1. Hover over the corresponding updated URL and click the Dotted Menu.
  2. Select Settings, make the necessary changes, and click Save.
  3. Select Delete to remove the URL. If you delete the updated URL, the customers will be directed to the 404 page.
